Editorial policy

How Nipun News gathers and verifies stories, how it uses AI, and how it keeps advertising apart from journalism.

Last updated: · తెలుగులో చదవండి

This page sets out the rules our newsroom works by, so readers can hold us to them. Every reporter and editor is bound by them.

Gathering news

  • Every story comes from our district reporter: photographs from the scene, statements from officials or eyewitnesses, date and place.
  • The reporter's name and district appear on every story. We do not publish anonymous stories.
  • Government announcements and notifications are written from the official source (the order, website or press note).
  • Material circulating on social media is not reported as news until it has been verified.

Verification

  • When a story makes an allegation about a person, we seek that person's or the relevant official's response; if none is given, the story says so.
  • Figures, dates, names and designations are re-checked by the editor.
  • Photographs are of the event itself. Where a representative image is used, it is labelled as such.
  • No story is published without an editor's approval; the system enforces this.

Use of AI, in full

  • We use Google Gemini to turn a reporter's notes into a full Telugu story, to translate it into English and to produce a 60-word summary.
  • The AI is given only the facts the reporter supplied and is instructed to add no facts, quotes or figures of its own. If it does, the reporter and editor remove them.
  • The reporter reads and corrects the AI draft before submitting it; the editor reads it again before approving. People are responsible for every published word.
  • Photographs are neither generated nor altered by AI; only cropping and exposure correction are allowed.

Corrections

We do not hide mistakes. The story is amended and a note at the end says what changed. The full process is on the corrections page.

Independence and advertising

  • What we cover and how we write it is decided by editors alone. Advertisers, political parties and our own businesses (Nipun India Skill Hub, Nipun Schools) have no influence over the news.
  • Advertising is labelled "Advertisement" and kept visually separate from news. Sponsored content, if any, is clearly marked "Sponsored".
  • When we write about our own companies, the connection is disclosed in the story.
  • Reporters accept no gifts or payment from the people or organisations they cover.

Sensitive subjects

  • We do not publish the names or photographs of victims, children or survivors of sexual offences.
  • Reports on suicide omit method details and include helpline numbers.
  • We use no language that incites hatred on grounds of religion, caste or region.
  • A person is "accused" until a court convicts.
