An international cyber fraud gang using Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to defraud Canadian banks has been busted. The seven-member gang comprised four Indians based in Canada and three Pakistani nationals.

According to officials, the Indians living in Canada used AI technology to create fake passports and identity documents, which were then sent to their accomplices in Pakistan. Using these fraudulent credentials, the members in Pakistan opened fake online bank accounts with Canadian banks. Once credit cards were issued, the gang members in Canada utilized the credit limit fully and abandoned the cards without paying the bills.

Pakistan's National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) conducted raids in Lahore after prolonged surveillance and arrested the three Pakistani nationals. Laptops, mobile phones, and copies of fake Canadian passports were seized from them, and further investigation is underway.
