Incredible Milestone in Tamil Nadu: 81 Prison Inmates Publish 85 Books

In a rare and inspiring milestone, 81 inmates serving sentences in various prisons across Tamil Nadu have turned authors by publishing 85 books, including collections of poems, short stories, and novels.

This constructive initiative was implemented through a special training program titled 'Sirayil Mulaitha Siragugal' (Wings Grown in Prison), conducted jointly by the Tamil Nadu Prisons Department and the 'Ezhuthaga Iyakkam' organization. Former Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary V. Irai Anbu officially released the books, which were penned by the inmates within a short span of six months. Cuddalore District Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar and prison officials lauded the prisoners for their creative achievements.

Family members of the inmates, especially their wives, expressed immense pride and happiness over this transformation. They shared hopes of their husbands returning home soon after completing their prison terms. Prison authorities noted that such creative endeavors foster positive changes in inmates, helping society view them as creators rather than just offenders as they step toward rehabilitation.
