Telangana recorded all-time high liquor sales during the Dussehra festival season. According to data released by the Excise Department, alcoholic beverages worth Rs 2,054.51 crore were sold across the state in just 19 days, between October 1 and October 19.

This marks a significant growth of nearly 37.02 percent in sales value compared to the same period last year. On October 19, the day prior to Dussehra, sales hit an all-time single-day record of Rs 303.40 crore. Beer sales saw a sharper rise than Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), surging by 40.93 percent to reach 30.37 lakh cases. Meanwhile, IMFL sales rose by 29.80 percent to 18.38 lakh cases.

The stock was supplied through 17 depots to 2,620 wine shops and around 1,200 bars, restaurants, and pubs across Telangana. The festive surge has generated substantial revenue for the state excise department.
